Admiral Pearson expects to arrive at Auckland on the flagship Royal Arthur about the 25th lhst.
The Council of Churches at Auckland have up to date cabled £1,300 to the Viceroy of India on account of the Famine Fund. At a meeting of the trustees of Trinity Wesleyan Church, held on Monday night, the resignatiqn of the choir-niaster (on account of his departure for England) was received with regret, and it was resolved : ,", T A afc Ir W - Sanson has directed the Trinity Church choir for about nine years to the very great satisfaction of the trustees and the congregation, and to the great advantage of the choir itself; there has been a remarkable absence of friction and a singularly good moral influence under Mr Manson; while the musical results haye left nothing to be desired."
Ihe InvercargiH breach: of promise action barah W. Thorn v. John G. M'Leod was concluded yesterday. Defendant was crossexamined with the view to showing that ho had recently been keeping company with another lady. He denied this, but admitted that he had escorted a lady, who was secretary of a Christian Endeavor .Society, home and had also been at a picnic at which she was present, but he had no matrimonial intentions. The claim was for £I,OOO, and the jury gave a verdict for £IOO.
