WELLINGTON, June 12. _ Some of the leading Wellington citizens, including Mr J. Plimmer, are advocating a petition to Parliament in favor of borrowing for the completion of the North Trunk Railway central route. It is understood that the Agricultural Department has drawn up a scheme for utilising the Levin State Farm for stock breeding and a dairy college. The Native Minister's scheme for the sanitation of Maori settlements is making good progress. ° The local subscriptions for the Indian Famine Fund exceed £2,000.
