ROWING NOTES.

For downright pluck commend us to the Worthy officials of the (Tago H .wiug Association, for notwithstanding the many rebuff) they have to undergo they aiill smilingly announce that the Association's annual fixture will he held at Heuley-on-Taieri on Saturday (St. Patrick’s D>y),'l7ili March. The Rahway D-partmett tai put oa a special train, leaving at 1.15 p.m. and returning at 5.45 and 7 p.m. So, given a fine day, visitors to the regatta will have a pleasant day’s outing. Additional attractions have been placed oh tho programme, such as tug-of-war (open to rowing clubs), team swimming race (five men a side), team running race (six men a side), and n 50yds amateur owimmmg race. The-e events are in the bands of Messrs Farquhar.-on, Hodgkins, and Hooper, who have been working very hard coaching and training the various teams. The tug-of-war will bo a leading attraction, as very keen rivalry is being shown by the expectant contestants. The N.E.B.C, and O.R C. may bo said to have quite shifted their quarters to Like Logan for the past fortnight, and all the crews have shown great improvement whilst clown there.

The O.R C. s miota are working very well, bus do not keep the stroke going long enough. How wauls to be smarcur on tb»-. recovery, and No. 3 is apt to bang 100 much before striking the water. They will went to go a bit faster if tbev wi b to keep up with the D.A.B C aud N 15 B G.

Tho North End jiniora are going well ; and, if it, be true, that’they intend competing for the Henley Cup as well as the junior race, they stand a good chance for the double.

It, is said that the O.R C, juniors are u fine tot of men. Few have been able to catch a glimpse of their rowing, but they are said to have a good style, though wanting in pace.

ihe D.A.B s juniors ora a strong lot of grafters, but hero again there is no combination—all “on their own.”

The D.A 8,.i seniors are a goo I crew. Stroke is the right man in the right place, anrl the genial bow is a real grafter. It is to bj hoped that the Association will sec their way to exhibit the Henley challenge enp in some public place during the week. It. is one of the finest specimens of workmanship ever seen here. There ts to be a regatta concert nud ball at Henley on the regatta night. Ali the details have been latt to Mr A. Jay, who has aka charge of the musical arrangements for tha'day, which is a guarantee that the public will have a real musical treat.

The Diadem Tobicco trophy for the 0. R C. Double Sculling Rico was rowed clt on Friday, and resulted in an easy win for Rod’s crow. “■ -
