THE FLORAL FETE.

TO THJ£ EDITOR. Sir, —Having been waited on by the Committee of the Floral Fete re supply of flowers, I am sorry to say that, in common with many other growers, 1 find myself in a very queer fix, owing to the Dunedin Horticultural Society's show taking plaoe the following week. As the o*bb stands at present, it simply means that if we supply the one we cannot exhibit at the other; and I think the society can help us out of onr trouble by calling a meeting at once and putting the horticultural show back a week.

thereby making a success of both exhibitions. Hoping you will insert this in the interest of floral exhibitors.—l am, etc., A Little for Both. February 23. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —An arrangement was made with some of the drag owners by the Committee of the last Floral Fete to charge 6i each way to Forbury Park, the same price as the trams. This agreement was kept by Borne dragmen, but the majority charged Is. This action of the men prevented many spending money at the Fete which tiey" otherwioe

would have done. Now, sir, I would eti<r> gest that thedragmen place a ticket on tbeir vehicle which will show the publio -what they are charging, and who are the pilSfptio men and who are otherwise. I believu ' tho Tram Company ore giving, a certain amount of their takings to the Floral Fete Committee. This generous action should ba remembered by the public—l am, etc., B. February 22. \ TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l notice that the Committee of the Floral Fete are going to charge the school children 3d each entrance fee to see the Floral Fete on Wednesday next, 28th inst. Now, sir, I think it is a crying Bhamo to expect the parents of the children to pay 3d for each child attending school. As yon know, sir, the children have done their part towards the Patriotic Fond by subscribing their pennies and collecting and doing what was in their way. If the Committee of the Floral Fete were to intimate that the school children would be admitted free it-would not have been anything bat what I oonsider reasonable. Now, Mr Editor, if the Organising Committee cannot get enough funds without going to such extremes, I think the sooner they close the list the better, and let those who have the money contribute in pro- I portion to what some of the working data I and their children have done.

Trusting that the Committee will take the hint, as I can assure them that they*wiH gain more by the attendance of the parents than by their exclusion, as will be the esse if the children are not given free admission. I a, n. etc., Johk S. Keil. February 23.
