D.uing Mr Conyngham Greene's visit o Windsor the Q.ieen (says a correspondent 01 the 'Daily News') made inquiries of him regarding hia experiences in ihe Transvaal, and incidentally expressed gieib regret at ihs sufferings necessarily experienced by the many British subjects compelled to leave that country on the outbreak of war. Her Majesty showed a kindly desire to learn something about Mrs Kruger. She Bpoke sympathetically of Mr Greene's recent indisposition, and congratulated him on his evidently imp roved health. "My income is small," said a rather dilatory lover, " and perhaps it is cruel of me to take vou from your father's roof." '• But I don't live on i-nc roof," was tho prompt reply. Bride (who had eloped): " Here's a telegram from pupa." Bridegroom (anxiously): " What docs ho say?" Bride: "All is forgiven, providing you'don't come back."
