The Maori Hill assault cases, after being partly heard in the Police Court vcstcrdai" were, adjourned until Monday next) at 2 p.m. The sitting of the Warden's Court which was to have been held this afternoon was formally adjourned by Chief Clerk O'Callaghan until the 2nd prox. The Government yesterday completed the purchase of a site for a post office at CAversham. The ground is at the triangle close to the Waterloo Hotel, and was recently filled in. It was bought from Mr James Wright. The site is a central one.

The valuation of the City for municipa rating, just completed, shows an increase in the annual rateable value of £5,017. The number of new houso3 included in this year's valuation is 111. The total rateable value for the ensuing year will be £248,140.

A meeting of the workers in connection with the new Wcslevan Church for Brlleknowes was heffi on Wednesday evening in the house of Mr Scott. Reports from the collectors and others showed very encouraging progress. Committees were appointed to complete ;irfor the proposed sale" of work which is to be held just before Easter. The foundation stone of the church will be laid to-morrow at 2.30 p.m. bv the. Mayor of Mornington, and an enthusiastic meeting is anticipated. ,

The interproviucial cricket match against Southland will be played here on Wednesday and Thursday next. The Southland team have been improving- in strength for some years past, and an even match may be looked for this year at Carisbrook. Mr Morris has now opened the new photo premises in Princes street. They arc fitted throughout with many recent improvements.
