PICNICS.

The grocers, who are holding their annual outing at Evauedale to-day, have been favored with ideal weather. The party, numbering 650, were conveyed by a special train, consisting of sixteen cars. The picnickers are due in town at 7.50 p.tn. The hairdressers of Dunedin held their second annual picnio on the Wintmiui racecourse yesterday, which provcd° an ideal spot for the purpose, and the thanks uf all concerned are tendered to the D. J.C. for so generously placing their property at the Committee’s disposal. The morning being a very fine one, a large number of people availed themselves of the opportunity of taking a drive into the country. Dur iag the afternoon Mr lies, in the course of a few well - timed remarks, said that seeing how well the people had responded to calls to assist their comrades in South Africa he thought that a further call would not bo out of place at that moment, and while Messrs G. Morton and R. Bryant sang ‘Soldiers of the Queen’ a collection was made, which realised a largo amount. Mr Wills, with his camera, took many pictures of the company. The Committee deserve all praise for the indefatigable manner ip which they carried out their duties. The following are the results of the sports ;
