BIG FIRE AT PETONE.

WELLINGTON, February 15. The Flora Soup Works at Petone were totally destroyed by fire about six o’clock this morning. The fire originated in the upper storey, and had obtained a firm hold when discovered. A couple of boilers were saved, and there was a small salvage from the candle factory works owned by Singer, Maddox, and Co., Limited. The insurances on the buildings, plant, and stock of the Petone Works are—United £2,600, Guardian £2,100. Both offices are well reinsured.
