THE PHARMACY ACT.
At (ho Christchurch Supreme Court yesterday the case of Keuwonliy v. the Pharmacy Board came before Air Justice Denuiston. Mr Harper, for plaintiff, said that ihe motion was for a mandamus to compel the Pharmacy Board to sit ami hoar an application for registration by Frederick William Kcnwnrlhv, a chemist and druggist of Wellington. The plaintiff was thirty years of age, and had served articles under a registered chemist in England. He bad afterwards come out to Australia, where lie bad been engaged in chemists’ establishments in various towns, and had for two years been a partner in and had kept open a. shop as a dispensing and homoeopathic eh,emist. The plaintiff came to Now Zealand in June, 1821). ami on July 0 had paid the necessary fees and made application to the Pharmacy Board to be registered as a pharmaceutical chemist without examination, on the ground that his having kepi open shop in Perth for not less than two years entitled him to registration in terms oi subsection 2.0f section 27 of the Act of 1898. The case was of a friendly nature, and was brought to dctermlno the. meaning of that subsection 2, the quest:!, ll being whether a- qualification outside the colony entitled plaintiff' to registration without examination, or whether it was confined to this colony. Air .Stringer appeared for the defendant Board. Alter argument, His Honor reserved judgment.
