DUNEDIN CHORAL SOCIETY

The society held their first practice of the season last, night in the Victoria. Hall, when thev started to rehearse ' Eli,' and did exceedingly good work with this fine oratorio. The attendance of the choir was disappointing, but those in attendance acquitted themselves in good style. Several new members presented themselves and passed the test in a highly satsisfactory manner, it being remarked that they all were the possessors pf really good voices. This must be very gratifying to the society, which now comprises aa exceptionally 'fine body of voices, the majority being thorough musicians. There aro still a few vacancies, but members must join by Tuesday next to entitle, them to take part in the forthcoming production of 'Eli.' The annual meeting of the society takes place in a couple of weeks' time. '
