The Premier, the Minister of Education, and the Hon. T. Thompson arrive in Dunedin to-night en route for the Ward banquet at Invercargill to-morrow. Miss E. M. Statham lectured on homo nursing at the quarterly'meeting of St. Mary's Mornington branoh of the Mothers' Union, held on the 27th inst., ana at its close the Vicar of St. Mary's, the Yen. O. S. Bowdon, warmly thanked Miss Slatham for the pleasure and profit they had derived from her remarks, and trusted that she would be able to pay them another visit shortly. The Dunedin Patriotic Fond now stands at £6,036 14s lid. The latest sums pjid in include £ll 5s from tho employes of J. Murdoch and Co. ; £l2 2s 2d, proceeds of patriotic concert at Walton School; and £2, employes of Nimmo and Blair. Obituary: Mrs Forsaith, widow of the late Rev. Thomas Forsaith, of Sydney ; aged eighty-eight years. The death is announced of Mr A. S. All. n, formerly registrar of the Supreme Caurt ao Wellington* •• -
Anniversary services in connection with the Methodist Central Mission were held in the Garrison Hall yesterday. Then; was an excellent attendance at the morning service, which was conducted by Sister Christian, a deaconess from Christehurch. In the afternoon a. P.S.A. service was. held, at which Mrs Don presided. Solos were rendered by Miss Hodge and Mr Kenno.rd, and a duet by Misses May Smith and Hodge. Selections were also given by the choir and orchestra, under the conductorship of Mr E, W. Hutton. Sister Christian gave an account of some of her experiences as a deaconess in London and Ipswich, and Sister Ruth referred to the hearty sympathy and support which she had received since coming to Dunedin. In the evening the hall was crowded, and the service was conducted by the Rev. W. A. Sinclair. Sister Ruth offered prayer, and Sister Christian read the lesson. The Rev.' W. A. Sinclair delivered an address on Matthew xxviii., 9, 10, and spoke oi Christ's commission to Ihe women to go anil proclaim His resurrection. The solo 'The holiest hour' was sung by Mr Kennard. The collection for the day amounted to £2O os 2d. A public meeting will be held in the Choral Hall on Wednesday evening, to be. presided over by Mr James Allen, M.H.R. Sister Christian ami others will speak, a.nd Mrs Blandford, L.R.A.M., will provide a musical programme.
