CASUALTIES.
While a small boy named Edward Scott was riding on the front of his father's express, on the Main North-east Valley road on Saturday afternoon he was struck on the thigh through the horse suddenly kicking out. The thigh was cut to the bone. The lad was promptly removed to the hospital, where it was ascertained that the bone was not broken. OHRISTOHURCH, January 30. William Hedgman, a little boy, fell from a tree at Lyttelton and died on the following day. At the inquest the post mortem showed tbat death was caused by apoplexy, and * verdict was returned accordingly.
