BIG FIRE AT WHANGAREI.
TWENTY BUILDINGS DESTROYED.
DAMAGE, £12,000.
AUCKLAND, January 8. A fire at Whangarei destroyed twenty buildings, including the Whangarei Hotel and the premises oosupied by Cockburn and Stanton, Crawford, Gocher, Cumings, Tothill, Kelly, Fisher, Frodsham, Brown, Dands, Rawnsley, Courtney, Miss Smith, Mrs Stewart, and Mrs Neary. The damage is abont, £l2 000. The insurances are : South British, £3,000; North British, £325; National, £SO ; Commercial Union. £1,145 ; New Zealand, £SOO ; Imperial, £1,525.
