NEVER THROW AWAY A NEWSPAPER.

" Once read, marked, learned, and inwardly digested," the use of the newspaper is by no means over, and the careful housekeeper need never complain of the accumulation as long as she has a house to keep warm and comfortable in the winter, and woollens and furs and furniture to protect against moths in the summer. A newspaper's power of retaining heat is now well enough known, especially among the poorer classes, who might utilise papers in a hundred different ways. When placed between layers of cotton they make especially warm bed coverings, and also have the advantage of adding no weight. As a lining to carpets they are invaluable, as they aie clean, mothproof, and impervious to air. On cool autumn nights at summer hotels and boarding-houses, where the single pair of blankets provided is inadequate, it will be found that a layer of hewspapers put between them will double the protection. Thin jackets may have chest and back protectors inserted under the lining with excellent results, while a sole newspaper, cut and fitted to the inside of a shoe, is a great preventive of cold feet. As a last tribute to its virtues,' here is an excellent remedy for toothache: Take a twisted piece of newspaper, light it, and over the slowiy'burning flame hold the inside of a pewter spoon. After the piece of paper has burned out there will be found a yellowish deposit on the spoon. Take this up on a bit of cotton and apply to the aehing tooth.— Exchange.
