(4) Freehold Section 1,287, of 8 acres, adjoining said Special Claim. The Sp""ial Claim No. 339, as will be seen upon reference to accompanying plan, lies between thtTclaiins of the Greenstone Creek Gild Dredging Company, Limited, and the Greenstone Junction Gold Dredging Company, Limited, both of which claims were easily floated The adjoining claims—viz., the Greenstone Junction claim and the Greenstone Creek—are regarded as so good that the promoters of this Company have the utmost confidence in bringing this property before the public. Mr W. Faithful concludes his report on the Greenstone Junction by saying: "I may say that the Greenstone Creek bed is the best venture I have met with yet," > . Mr Leslie H. Reynolds, one of the syndicate who secured this property, visited the n and his report is undernoted. Copies of the report upon the properties of the Gre~*B tu..e'Junction Company and the Greenstone Creek Company, from old miners who hj worked in the immediate vicinity of that claim, may be inspected at the office of the r ° The expense of cartage of material for the dredge, supply of coal, etc., will be comparatively very small, as the claim is situate only three miles from Kumara. Dividends will be paid at per share, irrespective of the amounts paid up. The costs of floating and incorporation will be borne by the Company. An Agreement, bearing date the 7th day of October, 1899, and made between Vincent Byrne, of the one part, and Farquharson Proctor, for and on behalf of the Company, of the other part, can be seen at the office of the interim secretary. REPORT OF LESLIE H. REYNOLDS, Esq. Dunedin, 7th October, 1899. F Proctor Esq., Interim Secretary of the Greenstone Gold Dredging Company, Limited. Greenstone Creek, it is in the centre of one of the best of the West Coast fields, and embraces the whole of the creek bed, and flanks some 20 chains in width over a .length of three-quarters of a mile. The whole area (92 acres) is practically at river bed level, is admirably adapted for dredging, and has never been worked. _ Adioinine the property on the downstream side is the Greenstone Junction claim, lately floated, the shares being principally taken up by the owners and others in the district. Adioinine the upper side is the Greenstone Creek claim, recently floated, I believe, m Christchurch This latter property has been well prospected by sinking three 12tt by 4ft shafts i. the positions shown upon accompanying plan, and I have no hesitation in giving it as my oriinion that the same class of prospects are obtainable on your property. The total conKTrom bese shafts was 102 cubic yards, and the gold yield therefrom 22dwt 19gr or equal to™36gr per cubic yard. I was fortunate in seeing the gold obtained, and canjread. y Srse the opinion expressed in the reports on the Greenstone Creek property, that it is of L'ood sample, and of a character which should be easily saved. fe The depth of the ground will run.from 25 to 35ft, and the bottom, consisting of mann clav iaSt suitable for dredging, -There is practically no nit or pug, and the wash an oSCS *>' "* dredging. . A » "^"L^ffc standing bush covers a small portion of the claim, the» aw oecwiona 1 pitches o flight river scrub, but I am satisfied that this offers no material obstacle, and that there is no suited to this ground capacity of 100 cubic yards per hour, which and I estimate the cost of such a machine, thoroughly welT constructed and equipped, at £6,000. Stunner" coal can be landed on the Claim at 25s P« ton, and, " *^«.£?™ B properties of this coal are good, 10 tons per, week, would suffice. The; runningexpenses, including wear and tear, and all working charges on the dredge would be well covered at £SO, and I consider (here is a certainty of the Claim paying handsomely .-Yours faithful,y ' LESLIE H.
