MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Hand and Heart Lodge was hold in the Stuart street Hall on Tuesday evening, G.M. E. Turley in the chair. Two candidates were initiated. The Acting N.G., at 8.15, declared the lodge adjourned until 9 30. The lodge was then duly thrown open, and V.G. Bro. Gallagher, of the Loyal Caversham Lodge, opened the proceedings by giving a very humorous reading from Mark Twain’s ‘lnnocents Abroad.’ Dis-trict-treasurer Bro. J. Rotin next proceeded with the much-looked-for lecture, entitled ‘ Other Woilds.’ The intelligent and careful manner in which he diecnsred the subject showed to the large number of brethren present that Bro. Robin understood his subject thoroughly, and that he must have devoted a very great deal (f time and labor to have collated and reduced the large amount of matter therein into such a concise and concrete form. The model of Lord Ross’s telescope, which Bro. Robin had drawn on a blackboard, was a complete work of art, and must have taken up a very great deal of time in its execution. Altogether the lecture was a very great success, ard reflected great credit upon Bro. Robin. Ib was the expressed opinion of a good number present that Bro. Robin might be prevailed upon to favor the lodge by repeating his lecture at some future date. P.P.6.M. Bro. Ham' 1, in a neat and eloquent speech, proposed a very hearty vote of than s to D. T. Bro. Robin for his very able and instructive lecture, which was carried with loud and prolonged acclamation. Bro. Robin feelingly replied.
