Premier Dupuy, speaking at a banauet at Puy, said that the tension of Republican factions over the Dreyfus case haa relaxed, thus promoting union. , After the verdict in the case had been delivered, the Government were ready to determine the responsibilities of individuals and punish those, who had,been ia fault. This would not affect the army, to which the country had looked with gratitude and confidence. The ' Figaro v publishes Guueral Mercier's evidence, in which he testified that Patydu Clam, in investigating the bordereau, dictated tbe text to Dreyfus. 'The dismay betokened his guilt. Dreyfus, in admitting the resemblance of the bordereau to his writing, exclaimed.: " My handwriting has been stolen 1" General Billot testified that the trend ojf the secret documents showed Dreyfus to be guilty. ...;.-.-• General Mercier deposed before the Court of Cassation that Dreyfus had Aold Paty du Clam that he would like to stick a knife into the threats of the German and Italian military attdcMs.
