VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
The Dunedin Highland Rifles fired the final competition on Saturday last for prizes presented by Captain Stoneham and the corps. Owing to the rough weather, it was found difficult to put on big scores. The ranges were 300 and 500 yards, seven shots at each. The conditions of the match were that three competitions were to be fired, any two to count. It will be seen from the following scores and aggregates that there was an exciting tussle for first place, Privates Robertson and D. M'DonalJ tieing, but in fifing off five shots each at the long range Private Robertson beat his opponent by 1$ points to I}, Bugler jSarbntt taking third prism'
