LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting, held yesterday, was attended by the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr J. P. Maitland) and Commissioners Clark, Dallas, Duncan, and Kirkpatrick. James Carr applied for a license to occupy sections 26 and 27, Town of Waikoikoi.—lt was resolved that a yearly license be granted under section 116 of the Act, at a rental of os per section. James Cox applied to surrender lease-in - perpeluity section 14, block 8, Gatlins.— Surrender accepted, and it was decided to recommend the section for notification at 7a 6d per acre, with valuation for improvements £133 15s.

E. Jones applied to be allowed to plough up and put into crop sections 4, 5, and 6, block 1, town of Waynes.—Referred to the ranger for a report. Allan M'Dougall applied for rural land on lease-in-perpetuity section 7, block 18, Lower Wanaka.—Approved, subject to lease fee being paid. Mrs A. Sharp applied to surrender her perpetual-lease sections 20 and 23, block 10, Woodland.—Surrender accepted, and it was decided to recommend the sections for notification grouped at 10j per acre, with valuation for improvements £477 10s. Thomas Morton applied to transfer lease in perpetuity under Land for Settlements Act, section 19, block 3, Marewbenua, to Mrs Annie Crisp.—lt was resolved to recommend the transfer for the Minister’s approval. Banger Mackenzie reported upon the application by Thomas Meadows for a lease in perpetuity over section 12, block 7, Tarras, and fifty acres adjoining, at (present held by him under an occupation ioense.—Application for section 12 approved at a capital value of 12) 61 per acre; applicant to surrender occupation license over the fifty acres adjoining and deposit survey fees for survey of same, when the section would be included in one lease with section 12 at the same capital value. Edward Whelan applied lor rural land on lease-in-perpetuity sections 18 and 19, block

5, and section 27, block 6, Clarendon.— Approved. The following applications to surrender were referred to the ranger for a report : James Ewart, section 30, block-5, Gleeonuru ; M. O’Connell, section 52, block 4, Gatlins; M. O’Connell, section 49, block 4, tathns; James Aherne, section 10, block 7. Gatlins. *

James Holt applied for occupation lease of 11 acres on EwnscleughFlat, Leaning Rock. —A lease was granted at 91 per acre ; survey fees to be deposited. H. Phelouog wrote in regard to the forfeiture of his lease in perpetuity over section 131, Ardgowan Estate*—lt was decided to hear Mr Pheloung with regard to the matter if he would attend the Board’s next meeting. The transfer of section 119, ArJgowfl| ' Estate, from Samuel' Winslade to Mrs Robertson was approved, transferee taking to live on the section. Ranger Mackenzie reported upon the application by the manager of the Ymcent Goal Pit Company, Clyde, to be allowed to have certain trees neat the coal pit removed. The Board did not see any necessity for the removal of the trees.

Kerin Claffey applied to be allowed six months in which to remove hia fencing from the mining reserve, block 1, Highlay Granted.

The Receiver of' Land Revenue reported that P. Lewis, whose perpetual lease 1,070 was declared forfeited for non-payment of rent, had now paid all arrears.—Forfeiture rescinded, all arrears having been paid T. Cbalmer, on behalf of William Bowie, applied to have the area at Kowaka, held by him under residence site license, surveyed and offered for sale by auction.—Chief Surveyor requested to have survey effected, and area to be offered at auction as suburban land.

M. M‘Allen applied for a small portion of unsurveyed land, being part of the reserve fronting sections 12 and 13, block 1, town of Alexandra.—Referred to Borough Council to say it there was any objection to reserve in question being dealt with. O wen M'Kenaa applied for a license to occupy section 40, block 12, Tantuku.— Yearly license granted at rental of 5s on condition that no timber is to be cut on the reserve except what may be required for fencing in reserve.

Mary Ann Riwe applied for a lease in perpetuity over an area of 12 acres at Kawarau Gorge, near section 47, block 1, Cromwell, and also for an area of 8 acres, south of section 26, block 1, and section 2, block 2, Cromwell. Applicant to be allowed to acquire under lease in perpetuity at capital value of 10j ; survey fees to be lodged. Thomas Wilsou applied for a lease in perpetuity over about 26 acres near sections 1 and 2, block 3, Cromwell.—Applicant to be allowed to acquire, oa lease in perpetuity, at capital value of 8j per acre; survey fees to be deposited. Arthur Stoddart applied to surrender section 8, block 13, R'.mu.—Surrender accepted, and recommended for notification at capital value of 15s per acre; valuation for improvements, £377 16s 6d.
