As a result of the recent report by Inpector Uuilen and the traffic inspector the licenses of twenty-one Auckland cabmen have been cancelled and eight cabs have been condemned.
Tne appeal cases against convictionß for sly grog-selling at Clinton and Balclutha were called on ab the Supreme Court yesterday, when it was stated by Mr Fraser, who represented the Crown, that he had the previous day received intimation of the discontinuance of these appeals. Costs (seven guineas) were given against the appellant in each case.
The Auckland Masonic lodges under the English Constitution have unanimously decided to remain loyal to the Home lodge.
In a discussion on the state of the Auckland city burgess roll it was stated that City North was as bad as City South, and that there were thirty dead men on the Ponsonby Ward roll.

A sittiDg of the Auckland Compensation Court is now b.'ing held to hear a claim made by Alexander Watson, of Devonport, against the Minister of Public Works for £1,750 damages for land taken for defence purposes at North Head. The French papers are making some comical mistakes oyer the new title of the Sirdar of the Egyptian forces, who is after all to be known as Lord Kitchener of Khartoum, and Aspall, in the County of Suffolk.
