DEFENCES OF OTAGO HARBOR.
[Special to the Star.]
WELLINGTON, December 17,
I am informed that the Cabinet has voted £7,000 for completing the defences of Otago (Harbor, and that the order has been despatched Home for the necessary material. In conformity with the decision of the Imperial Defence Committee, all harbors possessing docks are to be put forthwith into a state of complete defence; hence the determination of the Defence Department of this colony to give immediate attention to the defences at Auckland, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers.
