North-east Valley. —Mayor Evans presi led over Monday night’s meeting.—The G neial Committee recommended the Council to adopt the draft agreement relating to the scavenger’s duties. The sum of £1 8* had b en paid for services owing to Mr Ellis’s m gleet, and the sum deducted from Mr E lib’s account. The matter of a complaint of a nuisance existing at the Chinese gardens had been left to the inspector to deal with. The report was adopted.—lt was decided to redeck the Gallon bridge at the inspector’s estimate of £lO Bi.—The Tramway Company’s Manager wrote notifying that the work of lifting the rails frem the Hawthorn section had been completed, and the road left in good order, la reply to a question, the Clerk said the road had not been left in good order, and the inspector was instructed to report on its condition. St. Kilda —The fortnigLtly meeting was h»ld last evening, Cr Gourley in the chair. Mr Morrison, M.H.R, intimated that he w<b in communication with the Defence Department, Wellington, regarding the C mncil’s claim for damages done to tho b >rough.—The matter of the drainage from Mr (Svndland’s house was referred to the Works Committee to report.
