The show opened yesterday In good weather, although several slight summer showers fell daring the day. The number t f entries was 793 -an increase on last year. The show of Ayrshires was good, and the entry of sheep and light horses larger than for some years back, the latter, in fact, larger than it has ever been. Euroclydoa and Emerson won the gold medals for thoroughbred and hackney stallions reepee, lively. Our Jack of Chetnole was the ohampion Ayrshire bull. The following are the winners of the cups Ayrshire cattle.—Rngerson and Fleming, Merinoes.—W. Gardiner. Border Leicesters.— Little Bros. English Leicester®. —D. Grant (Temuka) Lincolns.—N.Z. and A. Land Company. Downs.—Aitken and Seth Smith. Dairy produce.—First cup, Mrs W. Gardiner I second cup, Mis? Mitchell; third cup, Miss Moi| ton.
