* The Duke and Duchess of York were surprised at the warmth and spontaneity of the welcome accorded to them at Dublin. A meeting of Anarchists held in Trafalgar square, London, passed a resolution condemnmg the treatment meted out to Spanish prisoners. The populace, however, rapidly brought the meeting to a close, hooting the' speakers and singing «God save the Queen.' Speaking at Manchester, Colonel Lassetter said thai New South Wales was more interested in Manchester than in the other cities in the United Kingdon, because from there she obtained five-eighths of her total imports. He suggested that the canal directors should arrange with the wool producers for a direct service, thus saving London commission and railwav charges. There has been a general rise in wheat at Mark Lane of 2s 6d, making a rise of from 53 to 6s per quarter in the week.
