CZAE AND PRESIDENT EMBRACE.

ST. PETERSBURG, August 24. President Faure, accompanied by M, Hanotaux and Admiral Besuard, have arrived at Cronstadt on a visit to the Czar. The visitors were accorded a great reception. Salutes were fired from the forts, and the Russian bands played the ' Marsellaise,' the French band responding with a Russian national anthem. The Czar and M. Faure embraced on meeting. At the dinner at the Imperial Palace of Peterhof, the summer residence of the Imperial family, near St. Petersburg, the Czar, referring to his meeting with the French President, said its effect would be to draw closer the ties of friendship between the French and Russian nations. M. Faure said the hearts of the two countries now beat in unison.
At the Royal meeting the Czar wore the insignia of a grand officer of the French Legion of Honor, and President Faure the Russian Order of St. Andrew.
