Consols are depressed owing to the continued hardening of discount rates, and are now quoted at 112£. Quotations for colonial stocks:—

English wheat is firm. Continental Bhows a general advance, and American is advancing. Calif ornian No. 1 milling, 36a ; Russian cargoes, 325. London quotations for hard Duluth, 353.

"The American visible wheat supply is estimated at 23,295,000 bushels. The Bradford wool market is firmer. Sugar, firm. German beet, 83 9d; Java, 10s 9.1. . Pig iron, 443 6 J.

The American wheat yield is estimated at 26,000,000 bushels above the yield for 1896. The wheat shipments for Europe are causing a block on the American railways. An enormous number of British ships have been engaged to carry the wheat. It is estimated that the harvest in Manitoba will reach 35,244,450 bushels.
