THE WELLINGTON REGATTA.

There was a beautiful day at Wellington yesterday, with a nice breeze for the regatta, though Bmall boats found it rather stiff. In the First Glass Yacht Race only the Waitangi and Pastime started, and the former won easily by 3min 22sec beyond her handicap of Bmin odd. Mahena won the Second Class Yacht Race, Jennie Kiel the Handicap Yacht Race, and Vixen that for third class yachts. There were no entries of ships' boats, but for the Men -o'-War Sailing Race three boats started from the Wallaroo and two from the Lizard. The Lizard's cutter won, with the Wallaroo's "gig (which won the Admiral's Cap in Sydney) second, the latter beaten by three minutes, without time allowance. There was a large crowd on the wharves to witness the swimming races. The 100 yds Wellington Championship was won by Crabb, with Kelly second and Home third. Time, lmin 17 2-Ssec. 220 yds New Zealand Championship: Stratton (Christchurch) 1, Truscott (Christchnreh) 2, Home (Wellington) 3. . The first two were much too good for the other starters. Time, 3min 14 4osec. In the 75yds Ladies' Bracelet seventeen started in heats. Sheriff was first, with Butler second, and Weekea third. Time, 54 2-owo.
