EMBEZZLEMENT LEADS TO THE DEED. ' (Pm Pbms Association.) MELBOURNE, January 15. William Phillips, aged nineteen, attested on suspicion of murdering Brady, bookiceeper at Messrs Cooper and Eon’s ironmongery establishment, Elizabeth street, Was recently discharged from the firm’s employ. , Brody. baa discovered some embezzlements by Phillips, and it is alleged that the latter had arranged to meet the mnrdered man at ten o’clock on Tuesday night. PhiUips ; admits that he called at Cdoper and Son’s shop, but says that finding tne door locked He went away. Brady was foutid ori the premises late at njght with his throat cut through to the spine and two bullet holes in bis head.
