THE WEATHER.

Mr Pauliu advised us at 2 30 p. m.:—" The weather will continue fine over the southern portion of this island during the next sixteen hours, but the wind will back from S. W. to N. and barometer fall, and heavy electrical rains with thunder northward of 47cleg S., and general indications are becoming very unsettled." CHRISTCHURCH, January 14. The weather to-day is very threatening, and a light shower fell during the night. In the North Canterbury district steady rain fell last night, which will refresh the grass and the crops. No rain has fallen here for two months. WELLINGTON, January 14. After some weeks without rain there is a break in the weather, and it is now showery. The fall is not heavy, and will scarcely penetrate the ground. The weather for the last three months has been unusually dry.
