SHOOTING.

The annual rifle match between the East Taieri Rifles and the Duuedin Engineers was fired on Saturday last. The first teams met on the Engineers' range at Peliehet Bay. The day was very bright, and the scoring all through was poor, the ammunition being considerably at fault. The conditions were : Seven shots and a sighter at 200, 500, and 600 yards, and the result was a victory for the local team, the highest scorers being Lieutenant Barclay (76) and Volunteer Wedderspoon (71) for the home and visiting team respectively. The Engineers' Match Committee have selected the following teams to fire in the sections match on Saturday next:—No. 1 section : Sergeant Barton, Corporal Eagle, Lance-corporal Spence, Engineers Hay and Wurr. No. 2 section : Sergeant Bryant, Corporal Tonkin, Lance-corporal Thomson, Engineers Paterson and Stych.
