TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— Now that the elections are over and things have assumed their normal state, let mo say one word or two as regards the treatment of poll clerks at the recent election. Notwithstanding their arduous and unpleasant duties, “ these unfortunates ” were remunerated by the handsome sum of 12a 6d for, in many cases, over thirteen hours’ work, I ask you, Mr Editor, is this, la your opinion, a fair wage for a—ahem ' Liberal Government to pay ? I’m sure you do not, and hope you will use your influence when the time comes around again in the direction of bettering this state of affairs.
