LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting, held to-day, was attended by the Comm'suoner of Crown Lands (Mr J. P. Maitland) and Commissioners Dallas, Duncan, M'Kerrow, and Clark.
Mr A. G. Mathias applied for a grazing license over the mining reserve in block 4, Upper Taieri.—Referred to Chief Surveyor for District-Surveyor Calder’s report. Mrs E. Schriok requested that sections 3, 39, 42, 44, and 47, block 1, Upper Taieri, be granted to her, as her husband had died since the sections were granted to him. Leases to issue in the name of Esther Schrick. John Reid requested the Board to reconsider their decision in regard to his application for a license to occupy part of tailings reserve in block 7, Upper Taieri.—Consideration deferred. The Under-Secretary for Lands intimated that surrender of pastoral license over runs 219 c and 306, Naseby Pastoral Company, had been approved of.—Surrender of runs accepted. B. Harrington requested the Board to reconsider their decision in regard to his application for a grazing license over section 49, block 3, Lauder, He also objected to the amount fixed as valuation for improvements upon the section. —Referred to the ranger for a report. Ranger Fraser reported upon the application by John Noone for a grazing license over part of section 30, block 3, Poolburn.— Yearly license granted, under section 116 of the Act, over portion of forest reserve adjoining section 2, block 11, Poolburn, at a rental of 6d per acre, with license fee. The Board were requested to consider as to how runs 171 c, 171t>, 1710, 171, andl7lF, Hummock, should be dealt with at expiry of present license,—Governor recommended to set apart and declare open as small-grazing runs northern half of run 171, 2,700 acres, and southern portion of run 171 and 171f, 2.800 acres, at a rental of 6d and 7d per acre respectively. Governor-in-Council recommended to offer under pastoral license for fourteen years run 171 p, 4,150 acres, at upset rental of 4d per acre, and runs 171 c and 1710, 5,700 acres, at upset rental of 5d per acre. Ranger Fraser forwarded valuation of improvements upon small-grazing run 224p, Blackstone, forfeited by William Dowling. —Run to be reoffered at former upset of 8d per acre, with valuation for improvements, £23 17s; occupation from Ist March, 1896. J. J. Ramsay wrote in regard to forfeiture of perpetual leases over sections in block 3, Rock and Pillar.—No further action to be taken until after Ist February next.

Baird, section 11, block 8, Woodland ; Agnes Baird, section 12, block 8, Woodland; S. A. M‘lntyre, sections 27 to 29, block 7, Tuapeka West; John Bain, section 25, block 7, Gatlins. For rural land on lease in perpetuity; John N. Thomson, section 5, block 6, Gatlins; Mark Morton, section 2, block 7, Gatlins ; George Turner, section 13, block 8, Woodland; A. J. Guild, section 15, block 8, Woodland. Under Land for Settlement Act: Helen Wills, allotment 93, Maerewhenua Estate. For exchange for lease in perpetuity: Alexander M'Kenzie, section 6, block 11, Mount Hyde; J. A. Thomas, section 70, block 1, VVarepa. To transfer lease in perpetuity : Rebecca Heyward to Thomas P. Beck, section 1, block 10, Tig r Hill. To complete purchase of deferred payment: John Fenton, section 2, block 4, Gimiperburn. To transfer perpetual lease: George Stringer to W. A. White, section 4, block 7, Kurow. Hugh Curry applied for a village homestead allotment, section 42, block 1, Greenvale, on lease in perpetuity.—Declined, The Committee of Management for the Maerewhenua portion of the Waitaki Islands requested that they be given the control over the recreation reserve, section 23, block 4, Maerewhenua.—The Board had no power to comply with the request, as the section in question had been permanently reserved as a recreation reserve.
L. Mathewson applied for a license to occupy portion of land between section 2, block 12, Maniototo, and the Taieri Lake.— Referred to Chief Surveyor for District Surveyor Galder’s report.
