THE V.R.C. MEETING. Portsea is struck out of the Melbourne Cup.
Artilleur won the Ohoka and Eyreton Handicap yesterday. He carried 8.5, and ran one mile and a-quarter iu 2min 193 ec, paving £1 14s. Frenchy (7.4) was second, and Jewel (7.8) third. Paris was scratched for the Cambridgeshire, owing to the death of the Marquis of Waterford. Marco won the race, with Best Man second, and Count Schomberg third.
