ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

The dragging of the Pomahaka River by Constable Matheson and a party of settlers who were anxious about Robert Telford Elliott resulted in finding in the water the boots worn by Elliott on the night he disappeared. The body of Margaret Christie, seventeen years of age, daughter of Mr Christie, of Waikaia, was found on Saturday morning in the river near its junction with Dome Creek. She had gone out to bring home the cows, and was knitting as she walked. From Invercargill it is telegraphed that Finlay M‘Rae, a married man without a family, a farmer at Lora Gorge, was thrown from his horse yesterday, and died within five minutes, his neck apparently being broken.
