PUBLIC NOTICE. SOME M(JRE facts about homeopathy. FACT NUMBER SEVEN! ■ Homoeopathy experiments on the Will, not on the sick. Allopathy cruelly experiments on the sick only, anil as a result is in the dark as to the action of most of the medicine it employs. It is cruel to add to the sufferings of a patient by introducing new suffering from drugs. It is unsatisfactory, because true action of the medicines is not ascertained by their introduction into diseased orgamems. First, because the same medicines will act differently in different forms of disease, and perhaps be mistaken for symptoms of the disease. Second* because several medicines are generally introduced at oue time, and their several effects become combined or rather confounded. Homoeopathy ascertains what is the effect on a person who is healthy—will it affect the head, eyes, throat, stomach, bowels, nervous system; and if so, how ? Then when similar symptoms—mark you not the identical same symptoms—but when similar symptoms are found in disease, Homoeopathy knows what remedy to apply to the disease. Homoeopathy works for its results on the DISEASE, NOT ON THE PATIENT. FACT NUMBER EIGHT. Homoeopathy is progressive. Sir John Forbes, an eminent Allopathic authority', says the therapeutics of bis school are palpably wrong, and it is an admitted fact that the Allopathic practice of to-day in the great majority of cases is just what it was 20 years ago. Public sentiment has cried down some of its barbarous features, but the same vagueness and uncertainty exist that have ever existed. In Homoeopathy’ the world has been given a new and progressive law, new and valuable works on Materia Medica, Pathology, Therapeutics, Symptomatology, Theory and Practice, Obstetrics and Surgery ; Homoeopathic colleges have sprung up all over the world—the number in the United States is about twenty. Homoeopathic Hospitals and Asylums are open in every civilised country. Homoeopathic literature increases in quantity and quality yearly, and the shelves of Homoeopathic physicians are ' stocked with hundreds of its fine works. Homoeopathic practice is increasing day by day. Homoeopathy, in a word, is progressive.

FACT NUMBER NINE. Homceopathy asks a hearing, and invites the closest scrutiny from its opponents. If an Allopathic Doctor calls it humbuggery, it respectfully asks him to look into its claims, to witness its effects at the'bedside, to read its works, to talk to its learned expounders, to investigate its every feature, and then if he can see no good in ic to abuse it all he wishes. No fair-minded man can study Homoeopathy closely, honestly, and intelligently and not adopt it. This seems a bold assertion, but it is not. Health is a matter of prime importance to the welfare of man, and essential to the proper enjoyment of life itself. Therefore it is the moral duty of everyone to inform himself of the laws of health, its preservation, and the best methods of curing disease, and employ the physician who practises this system. • Homoeopathy is a living fact, a great truth, a law of Nature and of God, while Allopathy is a decaying falsehood, a fallacy, a guesswork, a dangerous, life-destroying experiment. No fair-minded man can be convinced of a living truth, a stubborn fact, and not accept it as a part of his belief. Honueopathy is not a “do-nothing” treatment, as some of its opponents claim. It acts promptly with known and proven remedies. It attacks symptoms, no matter by what name they may be known. It fights disease with medicine.

Homoeopathy does not cure by faith, others of its opponents claim, otherwise it could not cure the thousands of small children and mentally helpless adults and dumb animals that it doe?. It is employed by thousands in the treatment of diseases of horses and cattle and the like, and its superiority is wonderfully demonstrated in veterinary practice. If it could cure by faith, why, for .mercy’s sake, do not the Allopathic doctors cure by the same means, and not inflict the suffering they do? Homoeopathy gives deadly poisons, assert others of its opponents. It does no such thing. It never did. There is no medicine used in Homoeopathy upon the sick which can poison or even medically disturb the system. Homoeopathy employs attenuated, diluted, weakened forms of medicines, sufficiently strong, however, to cure diseases, but that are poisons in their crude form, and often administered in poisonous doses by Allopaths. The small do' o does not constitute the principle of Homoeopathy. If large doses of medicines arc necessary to cure the disease, Homoeopaths will give them deprived of their dangerous properties before being employed. The remedies it employs affect disease, not health. A bottle of Homoeopathic medicine may be swallowed in health without much harm, but if a small dose be given to a side person suffering with symp toms like that which the medicine would have produced on a healthy person if given in largo quantities, the small dose will act upon the disease and remove it. In disease the system is keenly susceptible tr the action of foreign substances. A healthy man may eat half a dozen apples, but let him be suffering from an affection of the stomach or bowels, such as the abuse of apples would uroducc, and he dare not eat a small piece of an apple. The most marked feature to the public eye, the one that has excited the strongest prejudice and drawn forth the severest criticism, is the small dose of Homoeopathy. Hahnemann, after ho had discovered the Homoeopathic principle, employed doses of the usual quantity. Experience and further investigation, however, taught him that smaller doses were sufficient and more safe than large ones. This is the testimony of all subsequent physicians who have fairly tested the matter.

J “ Homoeopathy cures by strict diet,” say other of its opponents again. Homoeopathy recommends strict diet during sickness, but cures with the aid of properly selected medicines. Allopathy ought to cure by diet if it wore so easy. There is really no objection urged against Horateopathy by its enemies that cannot bo argued away by facts, Every new discovery has been opposed, and every truth is strengthened by opposition. The way to expose the falsity of Homoeopathy is to study closely all its claims, and, if found to lie based on errors, bring facts to controvert them. The question of the ultimate universality of the Homeopathic practice of medicine is only' a matter of time. It it were a fancy it would have died long ago, but it is a solid FACT.
