RECIPROCAL TREATIES.
The Auckland Chamber of Commerce have resolved—". 1. That the reciprocity treaty with Canada is undesirable, as disastrously injuring many of the leading industries, especially the timber and fish canning industries (the latter of which, had only recently become remunerative), arid throwing a large number out, of employment. -2. That the reciprocal treaty with South Australia should not be confirmed by Parliament, as the proposals are inimical to the interests of a large number of fruit-growers and viticulturists who have been for years struggling to create a supply in the local and other markets. 3. That, to favor a connection by exceptional legislation in respect to the free admission to our ports of woollen goods and agricultural implements would be unfair to the manufacturers of Great Britain and the United States."
