A Sydney cablegram States that at a meeting of delegates to the Amateur Athletic Association it was agreed to accept the main definition of an amateur as laid down by the London Amateurs’ Association, with a proviso empowering the Rowing Association to deal with the question of manual amateurs. “ Our Own ” at Wellington telegraphs:— 11 The Canterbury Union advise Mr Hoben that the 22nd inst is a splendid day for the North v. South football match, and that Lancaster Park will be available. The Canterbury Union promise to do everything possible to facilitate the match.” At the usual monthly Committee meeting of the Dunedin Cycling Club held last night it was decided to hold the annual meeting on the 17th inst. A deputation was appointed to wait on the secretary of the Carisbrook Ground Company to see if the company are prepared to do anything in the way of improving the track for the coming season. It was decided to challenge the Otago Cycling Club to a friendly game of euchre, twelve players a aide. The club are at present occupying the room formerly used by the Chess Club in the Occidental Buildings until their own rooms are thoroughly renovated.
