MELBOURNE, July 31

The Budget Speech shows that the revenue for the year, including the amount expected from the Income Tax (of which £140,000 has been collected) was £6,809,000, or £250,000 more than the estimate, leaving a deficit of £115,000, making the accumulated deficit £3,179.000, The saving on estimated expenditure for the year has Leon £227,000. The railway receipts were £138,000 less than the previous year. The Treasurer estimates the revenue fur the coming year at £6,803,000, and the expenditure at £6,78-1,000. During the year selectors had gone to the bad to the extent of £17,000, and the total owing by them was £658,000. The total railway expenditure in excess of income to date was £7,978,000. The total public debt was £47,932,000, the interest on which was £1,860,000.
