INVERCAHGILL, Jl*nk 10. i-.i a ?J°. u ""sd inquest on the skeleton of a child which was found buried in the garden of Charles and Minnie Dean, at ".The Larches," Wuitoa, was resumed this afternoon before Mr Thomas Perkins,. J.P., acting coroner, and a jury of six, with Mr John Thomson foreman. t,- ,« an (° n account of Mr Hanlon and himself) watched the proceedings on behalf of Minnie Dean, and Sergeant MacdonelL conducted the inquiry. Margaret Cameron deposed that she had known Mrs Dean for fourteen years. She first lived witlr the Deans at a place called Etal Creek, and moved from thereto Winton with the Deans. After we came to Winton, continued Miss Cameron, a number of children were taken from time to time to live witli the iJeans. I remember a child named Cvril Swsoulai coming there, but I cannot sav how long ago-I think about five years. I believe he came from Oamaru. The mother's name was Ellen Scoular, and the father's, I think, was M'Laughlin. Mrs Dean brought the child to "The Larches," but I don't remember how long she was away.
