ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

The Collector of Customs at Auckland held an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of J, Garry, a steerage passenger by the steamer Anglian from Sydney. From the evidence adduced it appears that the deceased, when he came on board tbe steamer at Sydney, appeared to have been drinking heavily, and was somewhat eccentric in his behaviour after the steamer left on her voyage, so much so that the attention of the steward was called to his s'ate, and separate quartos were provided for him. In his evidence Captain Le Neven stated that about a quarter to 8 p.m. on Sunday he heard a shout, and was coming down off the bridge to inquire into the cause when he was met by one of the sailors named Jol n Heaves, who reported he had heard a voice crying out “I am over.” Darics, the chief officer, stated that the captain was anxious that the man should be looked after owing to his eccentric manner, but they were not under the impression he had gone overboard. Joseph Martin, one of the passengers, who occupied the same cabin as Garry, deposed to his peculiar behaviour. Garry had told him he was a native of Dublin, and had a mother and sister there, but no relatives in the colony. He was about fifty years of age, and had been in the colonies for forty years. Robert Wilson, of the late firm of Wilson and Clayton, auctioneers, Auckland, burst a blood vessel in Durham street yesterday, and expired The Kingite Natives are assembled at Cambridge for the purpose of considering legislation affecting Natives and their lands. The Natives wish power to deal as they like with their own lands.
