THE CITY HALL.
The Kennedy Company were somewhat handicapped last evening in their production of ‘ Oliver Twist’ through Mr Kennedy, oast as Bill Sykes, being too ill to appear. This fact makes the performance of Mr Ciemer in that important part the more creditable. Though necessarily having short notice to prepare himself, Mr Cremer was never stuck up for words,‘and his acting deserved considerable credit. Miss Wilde, as Nancy, helped greatly towards the success of til? piece, her vigorous style specially suiting the character. Miss Ruby Kennedy played the pathetic part of the little waif Oliver with a deal of sympathetic feeling, and Mr Norton, as Fagan, must 'have taken a lot of trouble to do as well as he did. In the gaol scene he made the most of his opportunity. Mr Moss as the Artful Dodger, Miss Howarde as Mrs Cornev, Mr Hill as Bumble, and Mr Saville as Mr Brownlow were the principal of the remaining characters, and all did good work. Tonight, when the company reproduce * Oliver Twist,’ it is hoped Mr Kennedy will be able to appear.
