Lelievre beat Pearce. In the game between Edwards and Hatherly the latter replied with the two knights' defence. The champion did not make the best of the early game, missing one or two- excellent opportunities. At the mid-day adjournment, hpweyer, Edwards appeared to have the winning advantage. Bleaeanja adopted the centre ganjhit against Hookhain, and when play ceased the latter* had won his opponent's queen for a minor piece, and had a strong attack. Wood has slightly the advantage of Mackay. Cocks is in a better position than Barnes, and Gilford has a very good attack against Barraud.
