England v.auStra&a.
[Vm : Pbzss AfitfoiAfroH.]
T'.,' ' 3jb*J*Bs:R 28., The team fco, represent Australia in the next test matoh against the Englishmen is generally regarded as a fine one, and looked upon as stronger in ail departments than the eleven which played at Sydney. A. Trott's performance in the recent intercolonial match entitled him to a position, and regret is expressed that he.is, not included in the team. The defect in the team is perhaps the fact bl its being a fine-weather one. With typical Australian weather the Australians should win, but with a wet wisket, of which there is every probability at present, the Englishmen's experience on heavy grounds should stand them in good stead.
During the Visit of the Oamaru Club to Dunedin Hewat captured twenty - two wickets for 87 runs.
At Oamaru on Christmas Day H. Crawford, playing for Oamaru Second against Excelsior, made 105 out of 240. Last Christmas Day W. King made 101, not out, against the same club. Owing to the Anderson 3ay Club being unable to raise a team, the match with the Albion No. 2 will not be played to-morrow.
