DUNEDIN FIELD CLUB.

The monthly indoor meeting was held in the Technical School on Saturday evening. There was a large attendance, and Mr Hamilton delivered a lecture on 'A Field Naturalist's Trip to the Macquarie Islands.' The wonderful flora and fauna of the "far south " was graphically described and illustrated by some most interesting photographs of penguins and sea lions. The lecturer mentioned incidentally that the Tasmanians, to whom the islands belong, are purposing the development of the timber industry there. As the largest trees are some scrubby coprosmas, 2ft or 3ft high, one can judge how much the aunexers know about their possession. After the lecture some new collections of shells, sea weeds, and flowering plants were exhibited and discussed by the members present. On Saturday afternoon next the club journey to Flagstaff via Roslyn.
