OTAGO ASSOCIATION REPRESENTATIVES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Being a member who has taken a freat deal of interest in Association football, am very much Surprised at the way the Match Committee are picking the team to represent Otago this year. They ought to remember the disadvantage they hj id when they selected a light team in 1890 to play against Christchurch. In fact, the only person in our team able to hold his own was Moncrieff, and he got knocked about considerably. One instance I would remark, and would like to be enlightened on that is: How is it that whenever the Blues are one or two short George M‘Millan has the privilege of making the selection ? It looks as if George picked the team to suit himself, whereas the Match Committeeshould do the placing and selecting. 1 rather doubt the Committee are not paying enough attention to the game. I will give you an instance. Last Saturday fortnight the Colors were playing one man short in their forwards, and until their attention was drawn to the f ict at half-time they had never noticed it. In your last night’s critique of the members it was stated that Watson loscshis head. Surely they could pick a right wing forward from among so many who did not lose his head. I am of opinion that Scott would have been equally as serviceable as Watson on the wing last Saturday. There was mention of JP. M'Millan scoring four goals, whereas there was no mention of J. M‘Donald scoring two, although playing with one disadvantage. If Scott, M‘Donald, and Ross were placed in the forwards along with Smith and White, I would consider we were well represented for both weight and good work. I am also confident they would hear some knocking about against the Wellington team, who are all pretty heavy, and go greatly in for charging.—l am, etc., No Partiai.itv. Dunedin, August 14.
