VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

The Dunedin Naval Artillery held their usual monthly inspection in the Garrison Hall last evening, when there was a good attendance of members. Lieutenant-colonel Webb was the inspecting officer, ami expressed himself satisfied with the state of the arms, etc. After the company had been put through various company movements by its officers, Lieutenant-commander Allen intimated to the corps that he intended giving the sum of £5 as a prize to the smartest four men in laying either on the six-inch breechloader or six-pounder Nbrdcufeldt. P.O.s Jack and Mackie were presented with nine years’ efficiency badges, and P.O. certificates were presented to P.O. Mackie and Leading - gunners Dockery and Williams. The shooting prizes won in the recent series of competitions were presented to the successful competitors as under :—First Class ; PiO. Woollett (Hallenstein Brothers’ prize), suit of clothes: Gunner Bain (Lieutenant-commander Allen’s K'ize), Martini rifle ; Leading Gunner ockery, Martini (presented by the corps); Gunner Jay, money prize (presented by Garden and Watson). Second Class: Gunner Russell, Martini (presented by Lieutenantcommander Allen); Gunner Allen, Martini (presented by the corps); Leading Gunner Williams, money prize (presented by Neill and Co.) P.O. Mackie, money'prize (presented by E. J. Spence). The corps then met and formed themselves into a corn mittce, with a eub-oonvmittec, to carry out their annual ball, which it is proposed to hold at the end of July or early in August.
