POLITICAL NOTES.
The Premier left Wellington to-day for Auckland, where he will address a public meeting on Tuesday. Mr Seddon will probably speak at Hamilton and Gisborne also.
There will be a change in the Government whips this session. Mr Hall-Jonea and Me W. C. Smith having been asked to be relieved. Mr C. H. Mills or Mr Buick and Mr W. Kelly will probably succeed them.
Wanganui election to-day. The Colonial Treasurer left for Invercargill this morning, and will be banqueted at Fortrose on Wednesday. Mr H. 8. Fitzherbert, ex-member for the Hutt, w ill be a candidate for the Palmerston (Manawatu) seat." Mr C. C. M'Millan, of MfArthur and Co., Auckland, is mentioned as a likely candidate for the Bay of Plenty. Mr William Sinclair has resigned the Crown Sblicitorship at Blenheim with a view to contesting the Picton seat. MrEfenry Graham, Mayor of Arrowtown, will contest the Wakatipti seat against alj comet§. The Hon. W. J. M. Larnach’s name |s mentioned in copnection with the Tuapeka and Wakatipu seats.
