BENEVOLENT TRUSTEES.

To-day’s meeting was attended by Messrs R, Chisholm (chairman), A. Solomon, W. Bridgman, H. Gourley, and W. Swan. The secretary reported that Mary Wright, aged seventy-four, died in the Institution on the 27th ult. from hemorrhage of the lungs. The outdoor relief book for April showed that 148 men, 298 women, and 820 children had received relief at a weekly allowance of £ll4 3s 6d.

The Chaiuman stated that during the last few weeks a number of able-bodied men had been applying to the Institution for work. He suggested that a committee should be appointed to make arrangements to send the men to some of the quarries.— Mr Solomon moved—“ That the chairman and Messrs Bridgman and Swan be appointed as a committee to consider the question and report to the Trustees.”—Carried. About fifty relief cases were dealt with.
