The amount of revenue collected at the Customhouse on poods cleared to-day for consumption was £2,044 15s 2d. The statement of the assets and liabilities of the banks doing business in New Zealand for the quarter ended March 31 appears in the 'Gazette. 1 The total liabilities amounted to £15,(>27,05H Is (id, and the assets to £18,150,984 Ilk The liabilities consisted of: Notes in circulation, 411,003,393 5s 9d; bills in circulation, £48,750 14s 3d; balances to other banks, £211,971 14s 8d; Government deposits, £450,044 4s Id; deposits bearing interest, £10,050,813 18s Id ; not bearing interest, £4,044,084 8s 3d. The assets consisted of: Coin, £237,178 10s 9d; bullion, £130,122 (is 8d; notes and bills of other banks £42,398 18s Ski; balances due by other banks, £30,890 4s (id; landed property, £527,452 H3s 8d ; notes ami bills discounted, £297,954 8s 8d"; colonial Government securities, £120,333 9s (id ; good debts, £10,408,028 its M ; other securities, £2,221,424 10s lOd. MINING NOTES. Mr Thomas Callender, secretary of the Matakitaki Gold Dredging Company, Limited, rejiorts having received the following telegram: -- " Washed down on Saturday 7oz Sdwt of gold, making ltioz ldwt for the week."
