The Cavjibsham Weighbridg a.—George Hope was charged with delivering coal in the Borough of Caversham without having it weighed on the looal weighbridge.—Air Sim appeared for the informant, and Mr Allan Holmes for the defendant—Mr Sim suggested that, as this was a matter affeoting the validity of a by-law made by the Borough of Caversham, the oaee should be adjourned till Thursday next to seoure Mr Carew's attend- ' ance.—Mr Holmes said that the defendant had weighed his ooals on the City weighbridge. —Mr Sim urged that the resident magistrate having held that the City by-law governing the weighbridge was a valid one it was fair to assume that he would hold that the Civersnam bylaw, which wps a copy of that in force In Dunedin, was likewise valid.—Mr Arkle agreed with counsel for the informant that as a matter of law was involved the information had better be dealt with by the resident magistrate, Case adjourned aooordingly for one week.
